 In
live fire testing, HT2’s fireproof properties were dramatically
demonstrated. To test its fireproof properties it was subjected to one of
the most severe fireground conditions, flashover. The line was taken into
a flashover simulator during a training session and placed under the
kindling drum shown in the photos above. The line was left in place
throughout the entire training evolution that lasted between 20-25 minutes. The HT2 is the line that reaches from the drum to the firefighters.
|
 Throughout
the entire evolution the HT2 was subjected to intense radiant heat, direct
flame contact during flashovers as well as burning embers from the particle
board which was used to fuel the chamber. Any other rope would have melted,
charred or decomposed under these conditions.
|
| After exposure to extreme temperatures and burning debris the HT2 emerged
with only slight scorching to the aramid blended outer braid, the line
maintained its flexibility and tensile strength. HT2 is not intended to be
a bailout line but a truly fireproof search-tag line that will withstand
real world fire conditions. Search teams can play out HT2 and no matter
what occurs between their entrance and destination follow up teams will
always have a line to follow. |
